Once upon a time (2003) in a far away land called Bosnia and Herzegovina, a group of friends decided to form a band. But this was no ordinary band, and they did not form under ordinary circumstances. True, along with local Balkan flavors, musical influences came from all over the world: ska, punk, reggae, electronic, hip-hop. Yet, there was no music industry, few concerts, no space for cultural or political expression among the new crop of plugged in youth. Mateusz Miller aka Radikal Guru is a producer and dj born in northern Poland. Based in Cork IE Guru has been setting up dancefloors around Europe with some of the heaviest dubstep beats coming out of the country. Heavily influenced by dub originators such as King Tubby, Scientist and Lee Scratch Perry, Radikal Guru produces sounds of roots reggae combined with dubstep. Radikal Dub Kolektiv was born in spring 2002. At first it was a trio made of boys who played together before in bands such as Radikalna promjena, Nula, Abrakha-dub-r and who’s music roots were the same/similar. And so these 3 boys (very baaad, but still – very honest:) started to experiment with music, combining different influences into a big melodic mixture, with a dub-reggae background.
