Coldplay, İngiliz alternatif rock müzik grubu. Grubun dört üyesi vardır: grubun piyanisti, gitaristi ve solisti olan Chris Martin, bas gitaristi Guy Berryman, bateride Will Champion ve gitarda Jonny Buckland. İlk yıllar 1996 senesinde University Collage London'da tanışan Chris Martin (vokal, piyano, mandolin, gitar, klarnet) ve Jonny Buckland (gitar, klavye) tarafından ilk başta "Pectoralz" ismi altında Londra'da kurulan Coldplay, ertesi yıl Guy Berryman (bas gitar)'ın kadroya dahil olmasıyla ismini "Starfish" olarak değiştirdi. Will Champion (davul)'ın da kadroya katılmasıyla adını bir kez daha değiştirerek "Coldplay" ismini benimseyen grup, 1998 senesinde hazırladığı "Ode to Deodorant"/"Brothers & Sisters" adlı demoyu çevrede dağıtarak ismini duyurmaya...
