Hailing from Malahide in County Dublin, Director are Michael Moloney (Vocals/Guitar), Eoin Aherne (Guitar), Shea Lawlor (Drums) and Rowan Averill (Bass).
Taking their musical cues from their early encounters with the classic songwriting of The Beatles, Steely Dan and Randy Newman, Director cite Beck, Grandaddy, Muse and The Strokes, as some of their modern day influences.
Director's debut single, "Reconnect" was released in Ireland and the UK on April 26, 2006. The single stayed in the Irish charts for 12 weeks peaking at number 10.

Directors was created as a band in 2001 in Estonia by singer Lauri Tõnspoeg and bassist Danel Vassilenko (Pandre). They felt that Estonia needed a hard rock group with some grunge influece, as it still had just disco music playing in most radiostations at that time. The name came from the fact that three of the memebers were active in different businesses and on high ranking positions. "Born 1979 Bournemouth, Dorset. Started Directorsound in 1998 while Studying in Colchester. Moved to London for a while before settling back to Dorset by 2002 and been there since. Now residing in sunny Bournemouth. Released debut "Redemptive Strikes" 2003 on Geographic and Felicity in Japan. Then collected the earlier recordings for "Tales from the Tightrope Vol.1" released by Dorset Paeans, then Powershovel audio in Japan.
