Kojiro Umezaki grew up in Tokyo, Japan where he began studying Western flute and the shakuhachi. His career encompasses both traditional and technology-based music and a range of electronic media. “My mother is from Denmark and my father is Japanese. Masafumi Ezaki (江崎将史) is a trumpet player and composer in the Japanese onkyo scene. Born in 1969, lives in Kobe. Ezaki began performing in 1996, with a focus on improvisation. Redefining the trumpet as a metal tube, he has developed many distinctive playing techniques, such as microscopically picking up minute sounds from sources including the trumpet and household garbage.
