The Karelia were a Scottish band formed by current Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos, known at the time as Alex Huntley, in 1996. The Karelia formed from the ashes of rock/jazz band The Blisters, with Huntley, Alan Wylie, and Glen Thomson of the earlier band joined by Greek drummer Tassos Bobos. Their sound has been described as "prog/techno rock with Iggy-voxed overtones", and "jazzy film-noir lo-fi." Sakareller bundan yedi yıl önce ilk kurulduğunda, üyeleri Boğaziçi Üniversitesi'nde öğrenciydi. O zamandan bu zamana hayatları meslek ve akademi ile kaplanırken müzikten ve birbirlerinden hiç uzaklaşmadılar. Boğaziçi'ndeki Taşoda'da başladıkları çalışmalara daha sonra taşınarak Beyoğlu Tünel'deki stüdyolarında devam ettiler. Çıkan melodilerden akılda kalanlar birleşip zamanla gelişerek bugünkü şarkılara dönüştü. Birkaç yıldır da Peyote'de verdikleri konserlerle bu şarkıları dinleyicilere ulaştırıyorlardı. Geçen sene "Artık albüm kaydetmenin vaktidir" diyen grup, sonbaharda girdiği kayıtlardan bu yana albüm hazırlıkları içindeydi. Appelqvist mainly derives his particular form of musical story telling from feature film, where the music is paralleling the story so as to amplify it or comment it. It is in this form, where sound and image converge, that Appelqvist is conducting his search for unexpected emotional expressions.
