2nd. This project is a musical collective series of improvisation, founded by Douglas Dickel (input_output, Blanched), inspired by Joshua Homme’s Desert Sessions. Hotel began in 2006 at the Live Studio, in Porto Alegre, when Dickel brought together musicians from the local indie & post-rock scene. Songs are written & recorded “on the spot”, simultaneously, and in matters of four hours. Hotel is the introducing of people to each other. The Black Hotels are an indie rock band from Johannesburg, South Africa. Formed in 2006, their first release, a five-track EP called Beautiful Mornings, made them one of the most critically acclaimed South African indie bands of 2007.
