Trip Hop / Elektronica / Down Tempo tarzında müzik yapan grup 1987'de kuruldu. "Any Love" isimli ilk single 1988'de pisasaya sürüldü. Massive Attack birçok ünlü isimle ortak çalışmalarda bulunmuş, birçok remix yapmış ve birçok film için soundtrack hazırlamıştır. Massive Attack, Miles Johnson ve Nellee Hooper’ın da yer aldığı THE WILD BUNCH gubunun sona erdirilmesiyle ortaya çıkmıştır. The Wild Bunch 1980'lerin başından beri varlığını sürdürmekte olan epey nam salmış bir dj gurubuydu ve asları Daddy G. ve Mushroom'du. Bu iki isim 3D'yi de alarak Massive Attack'i kurdular ve ardından Tricky gruba dahil oldu. Massive Attack şu anda sadece bir kişiden oluşuyor....

"Stomachaches" is the debut album, written and recorded entirely by Frank in his basement studio, with the exception of the drums which were handled by former MCR drummer Jarrod Alexander. The touring band consists of Evan Nestor (brother of Iero's wife, Jamia Nestor), Rob Hughes and Matt Olsen. .
