Sibel Egemen was born in 1958 in Ankara, Turkey. Sibel was grandchild of Muzaffer İlkar who was one of the famous composers of Turkish music. She started her professional music career in 1975 at the age of 17. Her biggest hit was "Hayret" released in 1976. .

Sibelian was formed around the turning of the new millenium by Stephen Svanholm. He had ten years previously played lead guitar in a funk metal band, releasing two CDs and touring extensively. After this he had gone on to study classical music at University and then specialise in singing at music college. After leaving music college in 1999 Stephen started to put some musical ideas down in his home studio, and this archaic music began to develop into the project today known as Sibelian. Sibel Redzep (born 12 December 1987 in Radoviš, Republic of Macedonia) is a Macedonian-born Swedish pop singer of Turkish descent. She is known from the Swedish television show Idol 2005, where she was the second runner up. She was also a semifinalist of Idol 2004, where she placed fourth in her group but didn't make it to the finals.Before she joined the show she lived in Kristianstad, Sweden. She was in the background vocals for the 2009 hit single "It's Alright, It's OK" by Ashley Tisdale. .
