Blue October is an alternative rock band headquartered in San Marcos, Texas, but is originally from Houston, Texas. The band was formed in 1995 and currently comprises Justin Furstenfeld (lead vocals), Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums, percussion), Ryan Delahoussaye (violin/viola, mandolin, keyboards, and vocals), Julian Mandrake (guitar) and Matt Noveskey (bass guitar).
Their latest album, Any Man in America, was released on August 16, 2011 on the band's own Up/Down Records label, chronicles the dissolution of vocalist Justin Furstenfeld's marriage and separation from his daughter. October Faction was one of the many off-shoots of seminal punk band Black Flag, led by guitarist Greg Ginn. A supergroup of SST alumni that mixed jazz and hard rock mainly as an instrumental vehicle. Never an actual working band as much as an occasional jam band, they made two albums both released on the SST label in 1985 and 1986. The unofficial lineup included contributions from Bill Stevenson, Henry Rollins, Joe Baiza, Chuck Dukowski, Tom Troccoli, Greg Cameron, and the ever-present ringleader, Greg Ginn. .
