In 1991, Rick Carney recruited co-workers Ron Williams and Brian McGoo and EMG bandmate Russ Curry to form Jesus Christ Superfly. Their goal: To play punk covers from various eras and drink as much free beer as possible. After the demise of EMG, Carney and Williams began writing their own songs and soon released the Big Shit/Rocket Scientist 7" on Frank Kozik's Rise Records.
