There are at least 6 bands called The Poets: 1) Band was discovered in it's native Scotland by Andrew Loog Oldham in 1964, signed to Decca that same year and to his Immediate Records label in 1966. Members: George Gallacher (vocals) Hume Paton (lead guitar), Tony Myles (rhythm guitar), John Dawson (bass guitar), Alan Weir (drums), Hughie Nicholson (later Blue and Marmalade). They had a minor hit in late 1964, but failed to have a major impact beyond Scotland. After numerous line-up changes they broke up in 1971. Most well-known track That's The Way It's Got To Be is on...
Silent Poets made approximately six albums between 1994 and 1999, not counting the remix projects that sometimes seemed to garner more attention than the original releases. Our rap-featuring playlist notwithstanding, Michiharu Shimoda (programming, keyboard, sampler, turntable) and Takahiro Haruno (programming, sax, keyboard) were far from what you and I understand to be hip-hop producers. Poets of the Fall is a rock band formed in 2003 in Helsinki, Finland composed of singer Marko Saaresto ("Mark"), guitarist Olli Tukiainen ("Ollie") and keyboardist Markus Kaarlonen ("Captain"). In June 2004 it was later released as a single and followed by Lift in September, which turned out to be a big hit. Their first album, Signs of Life was released in January 2005 and immediately went to number one on the Finnish Top40 list and remained on the chart for over a year....
Arguably the pioneers of the retro-modernist funk movement, Munich's Poets of Rhythm, recorded their classic debut album in 1993. The sound that these German boys made could easily come from the Southside of Chicago in the late 60's, or Memphis in the height of the Stax era. The debut disc Practice What You Preach influenced contemporaries like DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist and has been reissued on Daptone Records. The group has also released on ninja tune & collaborated with lyrics born. .

Both had travelled to Ireland following their musical hearts on their quest for new musical influences. It was there on the magical green Island that they discovered a musical connection, a strong sparkle, which they would later bring back with them to the Netherlands and Germany. This sparkle could not be tamed by distance and Marcel rapidly wrote an instrumental piece for Saskia called Love. She returned it to Marcel with full lyrics and vocals, thus making...
