It was late year 2000 in Haukipudas, Finland, when three fellows, Miikka, Teemu and Samu decided to base a rock band called Aias. Miikka was supposed to be the rhythm guitarist, Teemu solo guitarist and Samu keyboard player. Teemu's brother Pietu was asked to play drums and so we had become a band. We couldn't find singer anywhere and Teemu decided to sing until we would have found a new singer. Aphonic Threnody is an international project and extreme doom collective. Founded by Riccardo (Gallow God & Dea Marica) and Roberto (URNA & Dea Marica amongst the others) around the end of 2012 in London, the project has soon afterwards seen the participation of Kostas (Pantheist, Wijlen Wij and many more), Abel (Leecher) and Marco (URNA, Arcana Coelestia and more). Dave Cerf and Erik Hoversten have been collaborating since they were three years old. Over the past 25 years, the tools of this collaboration have changed from Legos and action figures to musical instruments and computers. But apart from this, little has changed.
