James Yorkston and The Athletes was the name used by Scottish folk musician James Yorkston when recording a number of albums with a number of friends and associates between 2002 and 2006. The Story of the Yorkshire Rats all began back in 2005, in the local watering hole known as the Counting house, a local hang out for punks, skins, rudeboys of Pontefract. Eddie, Billy (a local mate of theirs), Don and John had been talking about a band for a while, so we decided to give it a shot.
