Rufio was a melodic punk rock band from Rancho Cucamonga, California. All the members of the band went to the same high school together. The band was formed when original bassist Jon Berry was in freshman year in college and the other three band members were in the final year of high school. The other three band members are Scott Sellers (Vocals/Guitar), Mike Jimenez (Drums), and Clark Domae (Guitar). Ensamble Gurrufío is one of the most interesting instrumental groups from Venezuela, formed in 1984 by virtuosos Cheo Hurtado (cuatro player), Cristóbal Soto (mandolinist) and Luis Julio Toro (flutist). David Peña (double bassist) completed the ensemble in 1989. They focused on the research, arrangement and reinterpretation of Venezuelan Folk music with a classical-educated approach, but allowing for improvisations as a fundamental element for their performances.
