Born and raised in the West Indies on the island of Trinidad, at the tender age of five years old Cherisse's mother discovered her ability to sing. Gracelin Morris wasted no time in getting her involved in school and church choirs. Cherisse then moved on to participating in local competitions at the Queen's Hall in Port-of- Spain.
