The Stockyard Stoics were a punk rock band based out of Brooklyn with current members all hailing from Eugene, Oregon. Their songs focus on political and social issues, in particular anarchism. The band was heavily influenced by such early British punk bands such as The Clash and Stiff Little Fingers, Jamaican Ska and reggae, pre-honky tonk Country, and Rockabilly. SAT Stoicizmo was a trio of Croatian futurist composers active between 1981 and 1987. They released one EP "Jačati tijelo sportom" and one album Mah2. Mah 2 was recorded in 1984-5, and is an exceedingly complex work based on four of the core concepts of futurism: simultaneity, acceleration, power and machinery. Furthermore, the four compositions on Mah 2 -- which was originally intended as a double-LP with each piece closing in endless exit grooves -- were arranged according to morse-code patterns. The most popular hip hop group in faraway Bangladesh makes its music in a small second-floor studio in Jackson Heights, Queens. Stoic Bliss is part of a new wave of South Asian hip hop which includes a handful of groups that rap in the national language of Bangladesh.
