THE BLACKOUT ARGUMENT has become widely known as one the hardest working and fastest growing artists of the European hardcore-scene. Short and sweet: In their three years of existence, this 5-piece from Munich has created an awe-inspiring legacy of phenomenal releases, constant touring, loyal fans all over the world and perpetual press attention! Still it is their new album Remedies that will contribute the biggest part to re-establish hope in today's underground-music scene. There is an about-turn coming and the ringleaders are The Blackout Argument. This band has created a new remedy that will fill your life with hope, passion...
The Jane Austen Argument are a Melbourne, Australia-based indie cabaret noir duo who combine raw ballads and sharp tongues with chaotic abandon and overtones of anti-folk and punk love. Brought together through a chance cigarette break encounter (I have a cabaret show and need a pianist. I’m a cabaret pianist in need of a show…), a shared love of Regina Spektor, Nick Cave, dressups and theatrical musical convention, The Jane Austen Argument’s Tom Dickins and Jen Kingwell have been playing together since around September 2009, although it mostly seems a lot longer. From their very first performances together, the obvious...
History Early years (2004-2005) The band originally formed as part of a music project for a university course in 2004. The group were picked at random to be in the band and told to produce 5 songs, written by each member of the band. In an interview for the website Rocklouder TV, frontman Stewart "Stoke" Brock claims that they actually wrote the songs as a whole band instead of sporadically, and when asked about it, claimed that they stuck to the set rules. Before the formation of the band, the members had never met before, except for bassist Ryan Drever and...
Argumentix began as a solo recording project of James Squeaky (then of Alarmist/Sex With Girls) in 2004, then became a main focus after both those bands ended in 2005. After approximately 100 live solo performances (including 2 west coast tours), James was joined by occasional collaborator (and in a side project of James's called Animal Writes) Alex Hando playing sax. As a duo, they have toured the midwest/east coast and have played about 2 dozen shows in their hometown of Portland, Oregon. Argumentix has taken a break from live performance in 2009, but is looking forward to performing again in...
There are at least two bands with this name. 1. A indie rock/experimental duo from Sweden, 2. This tight pop quartet from Morgantown, West Virginia played together from 1997 to 2006. Legend has it they met at a Ben Folds concert, probably all singing perfect harmonies from the audience. Chris Russell on drums, Matt Warder on guitar, Brent Bunner on bass, and frontman Scott Simons on keyboards put on high energy but refined performances. Their sound is a bright shiny vocal pop with flavors of new wave and mild jazz pop (think Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, Billy Joel, Beatles, much...
