Arrigo Barnabé nasceu em Londrina, PR, em 14 de Setembro de 1951. Mudou-se para São Paulo na década de 70, para cursar Arquitetura e Urbanismo na USP. Após dois anos, abandonou o curso e passou a estudar Composição e Regência, na Escola de Comunicação e Artes, também na USP. Em 1976, um trecho de sua música "Clara Crocodilo" passou a integrar a trilha sonora do filme "A Ilha das Cangaceiras Virgens", de Roberto Mauro.
