Foster The People to zespół z nurtu indie, pochodzący z Los Angeles w Californii, założony w 2009 roku. Członkowie: Mark Foster - gitara i wokal; Mark Pontius - perkusja; Cubbie Fink - bas i chórek. Grupa zaistniała na rynku muzycznym dzięki singlowi "Pumped Up Kicks", który zdobył 32 miejsce w australijskiej liście 100 najlepszych utworów w 2010 roku i który został wykorzystany w filmie "To Tylko Seks".
23 maja 2011 roku muzycy wydali swój debiutancki album, „Torches” który promował dobrze przyjęty przez krytyków i słuchaczy singiel „Pumped Up Kicks”. Drugim singlem z płyty jest „Helena Beat”.
