Fences is the creation of singer/songwriter Christopher Mansfield, Seattle native and graduate of Berklee College of Music. In 2009, his EP was discovered via MySpace by Sara Quin of the popular Canadian indie band Tegan & Sara, who ended up producing, recording, and adding vocals to his debut album. The debut album made the SPIN Magazine year-end list of "Albums You May Have Missed" in 2010. In late 2010/early 2011, Fences toured supporting Against Me!. FENCE OF DEFENSE was formed in 1985 and began performing publicly in 1987. The band consists of three people: Masatoshi Nishimura (vocals, bass, keyboards), Wataru Yamada (drums), and Kenji Kitajima (guitar). Each had previously worked separately as session musicians. When they began playing the hard rock which made full use of electronics, it had a big influence on the music scene of Japan, making them pioneers, somewhat, of the digital hard rock sound throughout Japan. .
