Odległość od stolicy kraju Dakaru (1000 km) oraz bliskość Gambii i Gwinei oraz blisko 6 lat życia, jakie spędził on w tych właśnie krajach sprawiły, że muzyka Daby'ego Balde bliższa jest tradycji Gwinei niż rytmom z Dakaru.
