Carnivore was an American crossover thrash metal band formed by Peter Steele (later of Type O Negative fame) out of the ruins of the Brooklyn hard rock group Fallout. They released two albums: Carnivore (1985) and Retaliation (1987). The band broke up not long thereafter.
The first album is more traditionally metal-sounding, drawing inspiration from Black Sabbath, Motörhead and 1970s Judas Priest, while the second has significant hardcore punk/crossover influence. Initially as a one man project of band's current drummer, Dormant Ordeal wrote first page of its discography by "Demo I" released in 2005. Next year brought another entry on the list - demo CD of "Rotten Hearts". As the time went by, new musicians went on board. Some left, some stayed, until the year 2009 when project became the actual, fully functional band. Dormant Carnivore was founded in 2005 as experimental one man project. In autumn of 2007 2 vocalists joined the band (one of Aborted Fetus and another of Offalmincer, FatalError), in winter of the same year they found bassist and drummer. Band made several gigs in Russia. In november of 2008 Promo CD was released (only 100 copies). At the moment DC are recording slams for the first album. .
