Cengiz Kurtoğlu (born 1959, Artvin, Turkey) is a new wave/synthpop artist. He is shortly known by the name Cengiz, the modern Turkish transcription of the name of Turco-Mongol warrior Genghis Khan. Cengiz Özkan (b. 1967 in Divrigi) is a Turkish musician and singer, playing baglama, and specialising in Anatolian traditional music. He completed his primary education in Istanbul, and went on to graduate from Istanbul Technical University State Musical Conservatory. He completed his M.Sc. at the Istanbul Technical University Institute of Social Sciences, in the Turkish Folk Music Department.
