Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band, formed in 1992 in Cwmaman, Wales, United Kingdom, by friends Kelly Jones (guitar/vocals), Stuart Cable (drums; died 2010) and Richard Jones (bass) but no relation to Kelly. Colloquially known to their fans as the 'Phonics or the Stereos, in the years preceding their popularity, they went through shifting line-ups and were known by a variety of names including "KDR", "Zephyr", "Silent Runner", "Blind Faith" and their most widely known pre-Phonics moniker "Tragic Love Company," taking one word from each member's favourite band (The Tragically Hip, Mother Love Bone, and Bad Company). The Dustaphonics are not easily categorised, including elements of soul, garage rock, surf guitar, classic R&B, funk and with a touch of punk attitude, it’s a melting pot boiled down to a dynamic groove that includes high energy party stompers, cultish downtempo bar sleaze, to smouldering surf-guitar instrumentals.
This diversity is also reflected in the London band’s cosmopolitan make-up, led by French-Spanish guitarist, producer and DJ, Yvan Serrano (Healer Selecta), San Franciscan soul singer Kay Elizabeth, and Brits: garage drummer legend Bruce Brand and bassist Michael Jablonka. Over the past two years, Jon Phonics has been steadily making a name for himself as a producer with releases on the likes Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Bubblers and a limited edition Cassette Tape through Bleep.com (that sold out in under an hour) earlier this year. His signature brand of deep textured, soulful productions is hard to pin point; drawing as much from early 00s grime as it does 90's hip-hop & 80s funk (check his Chaleur Sensuelle mix series for evidence of the latter.)

Με μουσικό alter ego το project Φανταστικοί Ήχοι που απέσπασε ενθουσιώδεις κριτικές με την εμφάνισή του στο φετινό Synch, ο Kitephonics δημιουργεί πολύχρωμα ηχητικά υφαντά, πάντα με electronica/ambient βάση. Ως επί το πλείστον μελωδική και εσωτερική, η μουσική του διαφεύγει κατηγοριοποίησης αφού από τη μία μπορεί να δημιουργεί συναισθηματική techno με 4/4 beat επάνω σε αιθέριες μελωδίες και από την άλλη να σαμπλάρει τη φωνή της Ελευθερίας Αρβανιτάκη για να την εναποθέσει σε post-rock ατμόσφαιρες. Κομμάτια του έχουν συμπεριληφθεί στη συλλογή City Campers, και στην forthcoming Radio Lunatica της VIM Records
