The Besnard Lakes are a band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, formed by the husband and wife team of Jace Lasek (vocals/guitar/keyboards) and Olga Goreas (vocals/Bass), and completed by Kevin Laing (drums) and Richard White (guitar). According to Songfacts, their name comes from Lake Besnard in North-Central Saskatchewan.
The band gained critical attention with their second album, The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse, that was nominated for a Polaris Prize in 2007. It was recorded at Lasek's own Breakglass Studios, with members of fellow Canadian bands Stars, The Dears, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor/A Silver Mt. Zion making guest appearances....

There are two bands that go by the name "The Blakes".
1) The Blakes recall the stinging catchiness of the early Who, Kinks, and other 60s spitfire rock bands. Brothers Garnet and Snow Keim (both on vocals) busked around the country, writing songs, 'till they ended up settling in Seattle.' Their music tells stories of mental collapse and desperation (Spiral), obsessive memories of a nailed wooden figure of Jesus in Mary’s arms watching your every step (Anywhere), emotional loser destroyed by own mistakes (Sway), manic-depressive psycho hurting his partner and begging for understanding (Tell Me You Understand Me) or a wretch, for whom his opposite “shines too bright” to be loved (Ultraviolet).

Mirror Lakes is a Norwegian band formed in 2011. They play lush, melodic and guitar driven rock music, very much influenced by American west coast rock from the 1970's. The band features former and current members from bands such as Kåre & The Cavemen, Euroboys, Turboneger, I Was A King, Serena Maneesh, Heroes & Zeros og Hello Goodbye.
