マリリン・マンソン(Marilyn Manson)は、 アメリカのロックバンド。 　 及び同バンドのリードヴォーカリスト、 ブライアン・ヒュー・ワーナー(Brian Hugh Warner、1969年1月5日 - )の芸名。 　 その名は、マリリン・モンローとチャールズ・マンソン（1969年に、映画監督ロマン・ポランスキーの妻シャロン・テートを殺したカルト教団教祖）に由来している。 　 　 メンバー全員が、 実際の顔が分からないほどの非常に濃いメイクや派手な衣装を身に纏っていたり、 ライブパフォーマンスが大規模であることから、 「1990年代のキッス」とも呼ばれることもある。 音楽の分野を超えて日本にも多大な影響を及ぼしている。 　 音楽性 「キッス」、「デヴィッド・ボウイ」、「ビートルズ」、 「ピンク・フロイド」、「キュアー」、「アイアン・メイデン」、 「ドアーズ」、「ブラック・サバス」といった様々なジャンルの音楽から影響を受けている。 彼の音楽は専らハードロックやインダストリアルメタル、 オルタナティブロックに分類されるがポップな要素を多く含んでおり、 また独自の世界観と哲学を反映した歌詞が多くのファンを引きつける要因といえる。 アルバムごとに全くといっていいほど音楽性を変えてくる点もファンを飽きさせない。 ライブ活動には非常に精力的で、 大規模な仕掛けや趣向を凝らした演出を欠かさない。 その最たるものに『Antichrist Superstar』の壇上演説ライブが上げられる。 紋章入りの真っ赤なたれ幕と黒焦げの星条旗の前で、 ナチスさながらに壇上で歌い叫ぶ。 ファンには喜ばれるが、聖書を破り捨てるなどの演出から、 ライブ会場の前にてキリスト教の団体の抗議デモが見られる事が珍しくない。 また、ヨーロッパでのツアーでは豚の血を会場に撒き、 マスコミからもバッシングされた。 経歴 1989年、フロリダ州のフォートローダーデールで 「Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids(マリリン・マンソン＆ザ・スプーキー・キッズ)」として結成される。 1994年、バンド名を「Marilyn Manson」と変更、 ナイン・インチ・ネイルズの「トレント・レズナー」のレーベル「Nothing」と契約し、 1stアルバム 『Portrait of an American Family (ポートレート・オブ・アン・アメリカン・ファミリー)』をリリース。 その後、「Eurythmics(ユーリズミックス)」のカバーである 「Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)」のヒットにより名が知られた。 1995年、EP『Smells Like Children　(スメルス・ライク・チルドレン)』リリース。 1996年、2ndアルバム『Antichrist Superstar　(アンチクライスト・スーパースター)』リリース。 全米初登場3位を記録する。 1997年、マンソンの書く歌詞がしばしば不快で猥褻であると言われる中、 カルガリーのマックスベルセンターのオーナーは、 彼らの不道徳さや動物をショーに使う事などを理由に、 7月25日のコンサートを中止させた。 1998年、3rdアルバム『Mechanical Animals　(メカニカル・アニマルズ)』リリース。 全米初登場1位を記録する。 1999年のアメリカでコロンバイン高校銃乱射事件が勃発時、 加害者の「エリック・ハリス」と「ディラン・クレボールド」が、 マンソンの影響を受けていたとされた。 加害者自身の「マンソンのファンではない」との証言にもかかわらず、 多くの保守派メディアは、彼の社会的影響を追及した(抗議集会が開かれたり、 「マリリン・マンソンは、『恐怖』や『憎悪』、 『自殺』や『死』を広めに来る」といった不条理な讒謗を受けた。 とりわけキリスト教信者からの誹謗は強かった)。 この事件を扱ったドキュメンタリー作品『Bowling for Columbine(ボウリング・フォー・コロンバイン)』では、 マイケル・ムーア監督のインタビューを受けている。 インタビューの中で彼は、現在のアメリカにおける病理、 社会的な問題と銃との関係について的確な意見を述べ、 そのショッキングなイメージに隠れていた彼の知的な部分が垣間見られ、話題を呼んだ。 2000年、4thアルバム『Holy Wood　(ホーリー・ウッド)』リリース。 2003年、5thアルバム『The Golden Age of Grotesque　 (ザ・ゴールデン・エイジ・オブ・グロテスク)』リリース。 全米初登場1位を記録。 2004年4月、バーレスク・アーティストである「Dita...
