surface（サーフィス）は、男性2人組の音楽ユニット。旧名称はSURFACE（読みは同じ）。 事務所は研音に所属。レコード会社はユニバーサルミュージックを経て、現在はソニー・ミュージックレコーズに所属。 1993年：高校の文化祭で2年生の永谷喬夫と3年生の椎名慶治が知り合いバンドを結成。当時は2人の他、永谷と同じ軽音部のベーシストとキーボディストが在籍していた。 1994年：高校の予餞会での初演奏後、椎名と永谷以外のメンバーが脱退。これにより現在まで続く2人体制となる。 1996年：「AXIAア－ティストオ－ディション'96」の最終審査会に残る。数ヶ月後に現在の所属事務所からスカウトされる。 1998年：ユニバーサルミュージックから『それじゃあバイバイ』でメジャーデビュー。 2005年10月：ソニー・ミュージックレコーズに移籍。これに併せユニット名も大文字「SURFACE」から小文字「surface」に改名する。 .

The Surf Rats have been touring and recording their own unique style of psychobilly since the dawn of the UK scene in the early 1980's. The band's original line-up recorded two classic "must-have" psychobilly albums for Lost Moment Records. During the decline of the psychobilly scene in the 1990's, the original line-up continued to perform and record under different names, moving more towards a rockabilly sound. Driven by frontman Gaz Marson (songwriter, guitar, and vocals), the band toured extensively in America in 2001 and 2002 as The Love Cowboys. Bag Raiders are an alternative dance band founded in 2007 by mainstays Jack Glass and Chris Stracey. Both classically trained musicians, they met in the Cranbrook School orchestra practice room with Glass a year ahead playing piano and cello, and Stracey playing violin, guitar and clarinet. In 2005, the pair reconnected and started mixing hip-hop and 1970s rock music CDs. As Bag Raiders their musical inspirations include Earth, Wind & Fire, The Brothers Johnson, 808 State and Orbital.
