女優兼シンガーの母と、俳優兼ソングライターの父を持つ、サラブレッドR&Bシンガー。14歳の頃からピアノを弾き始め、既に16歳の時にはラジオから流れる曲を聴くだけで演奏できた。インタースコープ・レコーズと専属のライター契約を結び、クリスティーナ・アギレラらに曲を提供、かのP. Diddyの良き指導者として知られるアンドレ・ハレルが立ち上げたレーベル＝NU AMERICA、第一弾アーティストとして、ファースト・アルバム『ビューティフル・ワールド』を03年に“シック”名義でリリース。
