マッシヴ・アタック（Massive Attack）はイギリス・ブリストル出身のユニット。2010年までに5枚のスタジオ・アルバム、1枚のベスト・アルバムをリリースしている。また、他のアーティストのリミックスも多数手がけている。
ヒップ・ホップ、レゲエを中心に、ジャズ、ソウル、ロックなど様々なサウンドをミックスした独自の音楽性を有するグループ。方法論はダンスミュージックの体裁でありながら、暗く重い、気だるい浮遊感のあるサウンドが特徴で、そのサウンドは後にトリップ・ホップやブリストル・サウンドと言うジャンルで語られる事となる。抵抗的な音楽（レベルミュージック）としての性格を併せ持った楽曲も多く、それらもマッシヴ・アタックの概観を語るのに欠かすことはできない。
1stアルバム『ブルー・ラインズ （Blue lines）』はその独創性や目覚ましい完成度から非常に高い評価を受け、1990年代後半の多くのブラックミュージックやオルタナティヴ・ロック、エレクトロニカ、果てはラップメタル、ニュー・メタルなどにまで、この作品からの直接的・間接的な影響は及ぶとされている。コクトー・ツインズのエリザベス・フレイザーらを迎えて制作された3rdアルバム『メザニーン （Mezzanine）』は、ロック色を強めた音像を基調にしつつも、マッシヴ・アタックが影響を与えた多くのグループが生み出した作品からの逆影響が覗える音楽性で、世界的に成功した作品となり、同時に彼らの代表作でもある。
1982年にブリストルでワイルド・バンチ（ Wild bunch）と言うサウンドシステムが結成された。ロバート・デル・ナジャ（3D）、グラント・マーシャル（ダディ・G）、アンドリュー・ヴォウルズ（マッシュルーム）とネリー・フーパー、DJ マイロが中心となり、活動を行う。その後フーパーとマイロが脱退する事でワイルド・バンチは解散、残ったメンバーがマッシヴ・アタックとしてブリストルを拠点に活動を継続する。1988年にシングル"Any Love"をリリース（プロデュースは同郷のスミス・アンド・マイティ）。
1991年にアルバム『ブルー・ラインズ （Blue lines）』をリリース。シンガーにホレス・アンディ、サラ・ネルソンを迎えたこのアルバムからは「セーフ・フロム・ハーム」、「アン・フィニッシュド・シンパシー」、「デイ・ドリーミング」がヒットした。本作は1990年代のシーンに大きな影響を与えた。その独創的なサウンドは「ブリストル・サウンド」と言う言葉を生み、現在でもこのアルバムは「ブリストル・サウンド」の代名詞とでも言うべき存在となっている。

1) Massive is the new full on trance psychedelic solo project of Davina Elmosnino (also the woman behind the projects Sirius Isnes and Davina). Davina, 29 years old, was born in France but grew up in New Caledonia, a French island between Australia and New Zealand. She started to make music in the year 2000, and released her first track as Sirius Isness in 2003. Playing for Change is a foundation and multimedia online music project created by producer Mark Johnson and his Timeless Media Group, in conjunction with Concord Music Group that seeks to bring together musicians from around the world.
The project started in 2004 with the organization's self described goal to "inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music". The creators of the project travelled around the world to places such as New Orleans, Moscow, Zimbabwe, Tibet and using a mobile recording studio, had local musicians perform the same song, interpreted into their own local style. There are several artists called CHANGES:
1) American folk band formed in 1969 by cousins Robert N. Taylor and Nicholas Tesluk. Their music incorporates virtuoso, folkish acoustic guitar riffs and english ballad-like vocals. Changes saw three distinct periods with rotating band members before their contemporary incarnation. Becouse of their lyrics dealing with tradition and metaphysics and the member's patiriotic ideas they are heavily associated with the neofolk genre.
2) Swedish progressive rock band formed in 1987 in Gothenburg and disbanded in 1993. Bassplayer/songwriter Jonas Slattung and keyboardplayer Erik Nolander went on to swedish pop-dreamweavers Anywhen.
