大学時代にサークル1995年9月21日、アルバム「Blue Jam」でデビュー。その後、スウェーデンの音楽プロデューサーであるトーレ・ヨハンソンとのコラボレーションで話題を集める。レッド・ツェッペリン風アレンジの「Do You Crash?」（1996年）、「Heaven's Kitchen」（1997年）で注目を集める。特に「Heaven's Kitchen」は30万枚を超えるヒットとなり、彼女の代表曲の一つとなった。
しかし、BONNIE PINKの名前が広がっていくにつれて、本当の自分である浅田香織との間にギャップを感じ、音楽活動を楽しめなくなっていった彼女は、1998年に「evil and flowers」を発表した後、休養と勉強のために単身ニューヨークに渡米し、翌年に現在のレーベルに移籍する。この経験をきっかけに自身の音楽の幅を広げていった。
