厳格なキリスト教のコミューンで育ったシュルツ兄弟とギャング・チームに属していた他の3人が出会い2005年に結成、というやや疑わしくも気が狂った結成エピソードを決して裏切らない、ステージ・ダイヴや壁をよじ登るなど当たり前のハイエナジー且つ過激なライヴ・パフォーマンスで英米を席巻した、米ケンタッキー州ボウリング・グリーン出身の5人組。レッチリやメタリカらを長年にわたり手がける敏腕マネージメント＝Qプライムお墨付きの新鋭アーティストだ。フロントマンのマットは、音楽ジャーナリストたちやメディアに「アメリカ南部のイカれた聖書原義主義者」、「まるでテナガ猿の如く叫んだり高いところによじ登ったりジャンプしたりするタスマニアの悪魔」と表現され、彼らはまずUKで火がついた。2007年には早くもボナルー・フェスに登場、2008年にはザ・ピジョン・ディテクティヴズとツアー、同年6月、ジョス・ストーンやＫＴタンストールを擁するRelentlessレーベルよりアルバム・デビューを果たし、NMEやBBCをはじめとしたUKメディアに大絶賛された。翌09年には本国アメリカのZombaレーベルと契約し活躍の舞台を世界に広げ、日本では同年6月にデビュー。ストーン・テンプル・パイロッツ、シルヴァーサン・ピックアップス、マンチェスター・オーケストラらとのツアー経験アリ、またロラパルーザ、二度目のボナルーなどに出演している。この年、フジロック09への出演のため初来日も果たしている。レッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズやメタリカらを長年にわたり手がける敏腕マネージメント＝Qプライムお墨付きの新鋭バンドである。

○子供のころの親友が日本人で、寿司も大好きなんだ。
○子供の頃は宇宙飛行士になりたかった。決してミュージシャンを目指していたわけではなかったんだ。
○ハイスクール時代は俺は絵を描くのが大好きで、地元の美術大学から誘いがくるくらいだったんだけど、あの一帯では絵が上手いのなんてちっとも自慢にならなくて、もう、周囲からはハンパじゃなくバカにされてたんだ（苦笑）。それで、絵なんかよりクールなことをやってやろうと思ったんだ。
○音楽は純粋なところから生まれるもの。俺たちはそういう情熱的で、何の計算もない、ありのままの感情から湧き出るような音楽のエナジーが好きだ。そしてそれこそが、今回のレコーディングで表現しようと最も意識してきたことなんだ。
○（デビュー作からのファースト・シングル）「Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked」にはドラッグ・ディーラーに襲われた話 と、ヒッチ・ハイクする売春婦の話というふたつのストーリーがある。みな同じようにそれぞれの背景があるということを歌っている。人には、誰にも語られたくない秘密だってある。なのに、どうやって他人を批評することができるんだ？
○ライヴはエネルギーのやり取りに互換性があるところが、すごくいい。自分を曝け出した時にオーディエンスが反応してくれると、特にね。ああいう純粋な気持ちの昂ぶりというのは、他じゃなかなか味わえないね。 .

Gianfranco Comis was born at 13.6.1987 in Catania (Sicily). From his 10 years he tried to write his own music. After his experiences with discoteques he decided to work on Dance music style. 1, Flower Power is czech psychedelic rock/melodic rock band from Šumperk. Flower Power are Lukáš Mlček (guitar, vocal), Vojtěch Šeliga (keyboards, vocal), Matěj Pavlů (drum) and Miroslav Přikryl (bassguitar). They recorded his first demo (Demotivation) in 2007.
