プロテスト・ザ・ヒーロー (Protest The Hero)は、カナダオンタリオ州を拠点に活動しているスクリーモ、プログレッシブ・メタル、ハードコア・パンクなど様々な要素を取り入れたメタルコアバンドである。略称はPTH。 バンドの構成はヴォーカル、ギター ×2、ベース、ドラムの5人から成る。 結成当初は90年代のハードコア、特にPropagandhiからの影響を受け、より政治的メッセージの強いバンドであったが、近年の彼らのサウンドはスクリーモ、メタルコア、プログレッシブ・メタルなどからの影響が強くなってきている。インタビューにおいてDragonforceからの影響を口にするなど、その嗜好は極めて幅広い。 メタルコアとしての位置づけが最も近いと思われるが、ハードコア・パンクより派生した全てのジャンルのクロスオーバーをサウンドの特徴としている。 また、メンバーの演奏技術が非常に高い事でも有名。 本国カナダでは、2ndアルバム「Fortless」がチャート1位、3rdアルバム「Scurrilous」がチャート8位を記録するなど、高い人気を誇っている。 .
