梶浦由記プロデュースによるボーカルユニット。所属レーベルはSME Records。 ヒットメーカー・梶浦由記の新プロジェクト「Kalafina」。 2008年1月23日『oblivious』で鮮烈のデビューを飾った「Kalafina（カラフィナ）」。 デビューシングル「oblivious」はオリコンウィークリーランキング8位を獲得するというヒット飾り、 さらに4月23日にリリースしたリミックス・ミニアルバム「Re/oblivious」も数量限定リリースにも関わらず即完。 当初はボーカルユニットではなく、劇場版アニメ『空の境界』7部作の主題歌制作のための梶浦由記による音楽プロジェクトだった。ボーカリストは当初未発表であったが、2008年4月から5月にかけて行われたライブイベント『Revo&梶浦由記Presents Dream Port 2008』に出演した際、初めてWakanaとKeikoの参加が一般に公表された。梶浦は同イベントのパンフレット等に掲載されたインタビューにおいて「Kalafinaは定員の無い流動的なユニット」と発言しており、その言葉通り『sprinter/ARIA』からはボーカリストとしてHikaruとMayaが加わった。しかし、1stアルバム『Seventh Heaven』のリリースを1つの区切りとして、以降はWakana、Keiko、Hikaruの3名によるボーカルユニットとして活動している。 A&Gメディアステーション こむちゃっとカウントダウンにWakanaとKeikoがゲスト出演した際、ユニット名の由来は秘密と語っている。 シングル・アルバム共にチャート上位の常連であり、3rdアルバム「After Eden」はチャート3位まで上昇している。 現メンバー Wakana Keiko Hikaru（2ndシングルより） 元メンバー Maya（2ndシングル - 1stアルバム） .
