The Shocking Blue （ショッキング・ブルー） は1967年~1974年に活動していた、オランダ出身のロックバンドである。 ロビー・ファン・レーベン（Robbie van LeeuwenもしくはRobert Leeuwen）がオランダで結成。ボーカルのマリスカ・フェレスは、途中参加である。 マリスカはハンガリーとドイツのハーフで、父親がジプシー・オーケストラのバイオリン奏者であったことから、父とともに幼少の頃から歌を歌ってきており、また、ショッキング・ブルーに加入する前にも、いくつかのバンドでボーカルを担当している。 1969年7月に、オランダで、「ヴィーナス」を発売、1970年2月7日のアメリカの「ビルボード（Billboard）」誌にて、週間ランキング第1位を獲得した。同誌1970年の年間ランキングでは第22位を記録し、ショッキング・ブルー最大のヒット曲となった。また、フランス、ドイツ、イタリア、スペイン、ベルギーでは週間チャート1位を獲得したものの、オランダでの週間チャート最高位は3位にとどまった。 ショッキング・ブルーの成功は、グループのリーダーであり、殆どのオリジナル曲の作詞・作曲を行ない、自らは裏方に回ってマリスカを前面に押し出したロビーの手腕によるところが大きい。 ショッキング・ブルーは、1973年頃から急速に人気が低下、同年、リーダーのロビーがニュー・グループ「ギャラクシー・リン（Galaxy- Lin）」を結成するため、グループを離れた。ショッキング・ブルーは1974年6月1日に解散を発表した。 アメリカでのヒット曲は「ヴィーナス」のみのため、同国では「一発屋 (One-hit wonder)」としても有名。ショッキング・ブルーは活動期間が短かったこともあって、既に一般には忘れ去られたグループとなっている。1986年にはバナナラマによるカヴァー・ヴァージョンの「ヴィーナス」もヒットしている。 1998年4月2日、ドラムスを担当していたコーネリス・ファン・ダー・ビークが死去（満49歳没）。 2006年12月2日、マリスカ・フェレス が癌により死去（満59歳没）。 .

Originally known as Slaves, Pleasure Forever was a rock band on Sub Pop Records. Their music is generally dark, and has a somewhat gothic/cabaret feel. Lyrical content (while heavily distorted on Alter) can be vague but is usually concerned with images of hedonism, lust, weakness of man, death and similar themes.
