The Tokens è un gruppo musicale Doo-wop statunitense formatosi a Brooklyn (New York) nel 1955. Sono famosi sopratutto per aver inciso nel 1961 la hit «The Lion Sleeps Tonight». L’originale formazione della band includeva Neil Sedaka, Hank Medress, Eddie Rabkin e Cynthia Zolotin sotto il nome di Linc-Tones, ma la formazione storica è quella successiva con Jay Siegel, Mitch Margo, Phil Margo ed Hank Medress sotto l’attuale nome (in uso dal 1960). .
Centry were a UK dub band whose members included Nigel Lake, Love Grocer's Chris Petter and Dave Fullwood, Nick Manasseh and Dougie Bush Chemists Conscious. Their first 7", Stepping Time, hit big and resulted in a string of boom tunes, including collaborations with artists like Tena Stelin, King General and Culture Freeman.
Albums include Thunder Mountain, Release The Chains and the collaboration with Tena Stelin, Sun And Moon, as well as copious tunes on various compilations put out by the Dubhead record label. .
Led by drummer/songwriter Ernie Parada (the band's only constant member), Token Entry was a hardcore/skate-punk band formed in Queens, New York in 1980, when they were known as Gilligan's Revenge. They adopted the name Token Entry in 1984 and released an EP, Ready or Not Here We Come, in 1985 with vocalist Anthony Comunale (later of Killing Time). The EP tracks were re-recorded for the 1987 LP From Beneath the Streets, which featured vocalist Timmy Chunks and guitarist Mickey Neal. The arrival of Bad Brains guitarist Dr. Know in the producer's chair accented Token Entry's funkier backbeat on 1988's Jaybird....
