I Wintersun ("sole invernale" in italiano) sono una band melodic death metal con influenze viking e folk finlandese, fondata nel 2004 da Jari Mäenpää, ex-frontman degli Ensiferum.
Inizialmente i Wintersun erano stati concepiti come side-project di Jari, ma il tour europeo degli Ensiferum coincidette con la data della registrazione dell'album Wintersun. Jari fu quindi costretto a scegliere tra i Wintersun e gli Ensiferum; scelse i primi e per questo si vide obbligato a lasciare gli Ensiferum alle spalle.

In early 2007, founded by James Denton (Vocals) and then being joined by Dom Rodriguez (Drums) and Billy Dowdall (Bass), Ravenface was formed.
After getting a loyal following in their region, they expanded to gigs throughout the UK. The summer of 2007 saw the release of the first Ravenface EP 'Isolation'.
