I New York Dolls sono un gruppo glam rock/proto-punk formata proprio a New York nel 1971. Riscossero poco successo durante il periodo di attività 1971-1977, ma significarono molto per i generi successivi come il punk rock nei fine anni settanta e il glam metal/sleaze metal anni ottanta.
