I Napalm Death sono un gruppo grindcore/death metal formatosi a Solihull School (vicino Birmingham), Inghilterra nel 1981 da Miles Ratledge e Nicholas Bullen, il gruppo è considerato il pionere del proprio genere, ed infatti sono stati proprio loro ad usare per la prima volta il termine grind per descrivere la loro musica. Nessuno dei membri originali fa attualmente parte del gruppo. Partiti inizialmente come band hardcore/punk, a Nicholas (voce, basso) e Miles (batteria) si aggiungono Simon Oppenheimer (chitarra) e Graham Robertson (basso). The band started in the mid `94. Planned to create "noise", but play kind of noisy-noise-core w/ a drum section, two basses and voice. Stopped to use the instruments they started to play only/mainly many different materials, equipments, garbage, junks and things, people didn't need (as like metals, woods, glass, plastics, papers), prepared electronix, various microphones, tape deck, pedal effectors, drum module, mini disc, samples, turntable, etc... National Napalm Syndicate was formed in 1986 / 1987.The band were one of the first speed/thrash acts to emerge from Finland. They started out playing songs from Metallica's "Kill Em All" album and the first Exodus album. In the early days Finnish bands like KANSANTURVAMUSIIKKIKOMISSIO and Faff-bey were a big inspiration for the band. Soon they started writing material of their own.
