Johann Baptist Strauss (padre) (propriamente: Strauß) (Vienna, 14 marzo 1804 – Vienna, 25 settembre 1849) è stato un compositore e direttore d'orchestra austriaco. Strauss era figlio del proprietario di una modesta trattoria, sua madre morì nel 1811 e nel 1816 suo padre si suicidò (si suppone a causa dei debiti) annegando nel Danubio.
