Il nome Billy Idol deriva da un episodio avvenutogli in adolescenza. Infatti quando era a scuola, l'insegnante gli consegnò il compito che lui aveva sbagliato con sopra la scritta in caratteri cubitali "William is idle". Da quel momento iniziò a farsi chiamare da tutti Billy Idol.

Smack was a Finnish band, which was active 1982-1990. They were influenced by such groups as The Stooges, The Doors and MC5. The band’s original line-up consisted of singer Claude, guitarists Kartsa and Manchuria, bassist Cheri and drummer Kinde. They were also known in America, where for example Guns N' Roses among many others were influenced by their music and attitude. Their singer Claude died in the mid-90’s. But the legend lives forever.
