Jesus Culture began in the summer of 1999, when the youth group at Bethel Church in Redding, California, led by Banning Liebscher, launched the first Jesus Culture conference. During this time they began leading worship at Jesus Culture conferences both nationally and internationally and thus the Jesus Culture band was formed. Psycho le Cému are: Daishi (vocals), Lida (guitar), Aya (guitar), seek (bass) and YURA-sama (drums). Formed in 1999, their musical style started off as dark, melodic pop. In more recent years their style has become lighter and more colourful. They are strongly influenced by anime and dress up as characters from various anime series and videogames. In 2005 they announced they would be going on hiatus as Daishi was convicted of drug-use. At present all band members are pursuing side-projects.
