Abdoujaparov, the band of Les Carter (the Unstoppable Sex Machine) Abdoujaparov's musical foundations are the joyous and shambolic influences of 1977 punk rock. The music is raucous, fast and sometimes a bit country. The lyrics are rude, tender, funny and sometimes just plain bad. So far seven EPs and two albums 'Air Oden Disco Pub' and 'Cycle Riot History Gang' have been released on Spinach Records. A compilation CD featuring tracks from the first 3 EPs was released by Pop Gun in Australia. The band has toured the UK, Germany, Australia and America. Abdou Day is originally from Madagascar, an island in the Indian Ocean located in South-East Africa. Always interested in music, in 1985 he met Jimmy Cliff, who encouraged him to pursue a career. He emigrated to France in 1989 to try to break into the music business. He started out singing backgrounds in various bands. At a Marley Tribute Festival in the city of Colmar, France, he met Pato Banton (a reggae singer from Birmingham, England), and some members of Bob Marley's family.
