Pest 5000 were a Candian indie rock band consisting of Patti Schmidt (vocals, bass), Kevin Kamoda (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Jon Ascensio (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Andy Vial (drums), Geneviève Heistek (violin, vocals) Initially known as Pest they later added the 5000 to their name and eventually shortened it down to P5K Patti Schmidt later went on to work for CBC radio on the show Brave New Waves and formed Nanobot Auxiliary Ballet with Jeff Wayne Jon Ascensio had a side project called Starbean .

Powerman 5000 est un groupe métal (et depuis peu rock/hard rock/punk rock) venant de Boston et formé officiellement en 1991. Le chanteur, Spider One, est le jeune frère de Rob Zombie. Leur nom est inspiré du super-héros de bande dessinée Power man. C'est à Boston, vers la fin des années 80, que tout débute. Spider se joint à un producteur nommé Lamar Lowder pour créer un nouveau groupe à tendences rap/funk. Ainsi, le groupe se dotera d'un nom : Mc Spider et lancera Much Evil en 1990.
