Thomas Youngblood et le batteur Richard Warner fondent Kamelot à Tampa (Floride) en 1991. En 1994, ils signent un contrat avec Noise Records et leur premier album, Eternity, sort en août l'année suivante. La presse voit aussitôt dans cet album le signe d'un début prometteur comme elle n’en avait pas vu depuis longtemps.
