Miles Dewey Davis III (25 mai 1926, Alton, Illinois - 28 septembre 1991, Santa Monica, Californie) est un compositeur et trompettiste de jazz américain. Miles Davis s'est non seulement distingué par sa virtuosité instrumentale, mais surtout par son originalité – jusqu’en 1975, il fut à la pointe de presque toutes les évolutions du jazz – et par son incroyable capacité à découvrir et à s'entourer de jeunes talents.
