Wilson Picket (1941-2006) tiene su nombre grabado en oro entre los más grandes del soul.Como muchos otros, comenzó a interesarse por la música gracias al gospel que se cantaba y se sigue cantando en las misas de la comunidad negra de EEUU.
Picket realizó sus mejores grabaciones en el sello Stax de Memphis (Tennesse),donde también grababa Ottis Redding. Allí formó equipo con el extraordinario guitarrista de los MG´s de Booker T. y compositor, Steve Cropper.

Wilson was born in Sale, Greater Manchester, and was educated at Harrow School and Oriel College, Oxford. Most of his work for the stage was material for revues, such as Slings and Arrows, Oranges and Lemons, and See You Later, starring such performers as Peter Cook. .
