Derek Holzer (b. 1972) is an American sound artist living in Berlin, Germany whose current interests include self-made analog electronics, sound art, field recordings and the meeting points of electroacoustic, noise, improvisation and extreme music. He has played live experimental sound, as well as taught workshops in noise art technology, across Europe, North America, Brazil and New Zealand. He has performed live audiovisual sets using laptops and the pure data programming language since 2001. Holzkopf is a Canadian electronic musician Jacob Audrey Revington Taves from Vancouver, Canada. While he have been active under various names and in various projects since 1997 (STD, Distal Magg, Titanarum, others), the first album using the Holzkopf name was released in 2001 on Canadian label Dainty Deathy Recordings.
