Pest 5000 were a Candian indie rock band consisting of Patti Schmidt (vocals, bass), Kevin Kamoda (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Jon Ascensio (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Andy Vial (drums), Geneviève Heistek (violin, vocals) Initially known as Pest they later added the 5000 to their name and eventually shortened it down to P5K Patti Schmidt later went on to work for CBC radio on the show Brave New Waves and formed Nanobot Auxiliary Ballet with Jeff Wayne Jon Ascensio had a side project called Starbean .

Powerman 5000 (auch PM5K) ist eine im Jahre 1989 in Boston gegründete Industrial / Nu-Metal-Band. Der Frontman der Band, Michael Cummings ist der jüngere Bruder von Rob Zombie. Er ist das einzige Bandmitglied, welches von der Originalbesetzung übrig geblieben ist. Während die älteren Alben wie "True Force" oder "Tonight the Stars Revolt" an einen Mix aus Punk-Rock, Hard-Rock, einigen Funk- und Industrial-elementen erinnern, bemerkte man ab "Anyone for Doomsday?" eine Entwicklung eher zum Hard Rock, welche man besonders an dem Lied "Bombshell" erkennen kann.
