Propaganda ist eine deutsche Band, die 1982 von Ralf Dörper gegründet wurde, nachdem er Die Krupps (Düsseldorfer Elektronik-Band) verlassen hatte. Zusammen mit Andreas Thein und Susanne Freytag nahmen Propaganda als Trio zwei bislang unveröffentlichte Demos auf, darunter unter anderem eine Interpretation des Titels "Discipline" der Avantgarde-Gruppe Throbbing Gristle. Michael Mertens und Claudia Brücken stießen später dazu. Das englische Label ZTT Records (später bekannt durch Frankie Goes to Hollywood) nahm die Gruppe unter Vertrag und produzierte 1984 das Lied "Dr. Mabuse".
