Born and raised in Harlesden (London, England) until he was 2 years old, Mikey General, then moved to Jamaica with his parents. When in Jamaica, Mikey was raised in areas such as Harbour View, Valentine Gardens off Molynes Road in Kingston 19 and Red Hills Road. Mikey started his career back in 1983 with the legendary Unity Sound System in London. Continually rocking the dancehalls then and being a competitor with Skaka's sound the whole thing grew until Rib, the man behind Unity, finally started to produce own tracks.
